Who Doesn't Love a Giveaway?

I know you're out there.  The blog's stats show that I do have readers.  But, I can count the number of comments I've received since the blog's inception 3 months ago on my fingers.  But, I LOVE comments, dear readers.  So, like any good parent, I'm prepared to bribe you ;)

I've decided that each month, I'll give away a product to one lucky reader.  All you have to do to get your name put in the pot for the drawing is post a comment, answering the question of the month.  Easy, huh?

This month, the winner will receive a bar of handmade unscented goat milk soap

This all-natural soap is great for all skin types and contains a combination of several oils in addition to the milk, which is so nourishing to skin.  It is suitable for both face and body.  Because this bar is unscented, you can use it in the shower, then follow with your favorite scents for lotions and sprays without their having to compete with a scented soap.

To be entered to win the goat milk soap, please comment on this post by Sunday, the 20th.  I'll post the winner on Monday.  Ready for your question?

As summer is approaching, my mind turns more and more to pie.  :)  I love a good, fresh berry pie like this one.  I'm assuming lots of you do, too, since this pie post currently ranks #4 in my most frequently viewed posts.  So, what's your favorite pie for summertime?  You may include the recipe in your comment or provide a link, if it's an online recipe.  I hope to hear from several of you (and be able to enjoy your wonderful pie suggestions this summer, of course.)

  1. I like any berry pie but not apple or peach. I have no recipes but I'd be happy to test any you would like to bake!

  2. My favorite summertime pie would definitely be lemon ice box pie. Of course I love lemons!

  3. One of my favorite pies are the one you posted by your mom! (my sister) My kids love it too! I also love fresh lemon pie with lemons from Arizona. Would post the recipe but I'm in Arkansas ! My recipes are in Arizona!

  4. My favorite is a strawberry pie from a restaurant in Cherokee Village. I've never seen one as big as theirs and it is absolutely delicious!

  5. Strawberry pies are our favorite too, but we disagree on which type of strawberry pie is the best. My favorite is a strawberry sour cream pie and Bethany loves the strawberry cream cheese pie. One is AMAZING warm and the other is a frozen pie. I've included both recipes below.

    Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie

8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
    1/2 cup sugar
12 oz container Cool Whip (thawed)
    4 cups chopped fresh strawberries
    2 Oreo pie crusts

Beat the cream cheese and sugar together until well blended. Add Cool Whip and mix well. Fold in strawberries. Place in 2 pie crusts and freeze. Prior to serving, remove from freezer and thaw for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh strawberries.

    Strawberry Sour Cream Pie

    9 in unbaked pie shell
1 qt fresh strawberries (cleaned and chopped)
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    1 cup flour
    1 cup sour cream
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 Tbsp sugar (reserved)

Preheat oven to 450. Placed chopped strawberries in bottom of uncooked pie shell in pie plate. Sift flour, sugar, and salt together in bowl. Add sourcream to dry mixture and stir well. Pour mixture over berries and spread evenly. Sprinkle reserved sugar on top. Bake 10 minutes, then reduce oven temp to 350 and bake 30 more minutes. This is SO good warm!

  6. I like the pie Bryce's cafeteria in Texarkana is known for. Sorry, teach.... Ending that with a prep!!! Anyway, the pie is fresh peach cream pie. Delicious!!!

  7. Our favorite summertime pie is a frozen berry pie. I think it is your recipe! :)

  8. I love a lemon ice box pie as well. 1/2 can of lemonade concentrate, 1 can of sweeten condensed milk, and a tub of cool whip. Whip together and drop into a graham cracker crust and freeze.

Ash, I envy your little farm :)

  9. My favorite summer time pie is a Blackberry Cobbler :-)
